Wake up and bird watch right from the cabin. Sharon Spring has a beautiful wooded trail, and your host can give you directions to spectacular hikes just ten minutes away from the cabin – we have great hiking right here in Fairview!
This is the place to take a gentle walk and see great flowers and trees, all nicely labled: the NC Arboretum. Hiking in Black Balsam Knob or Graveyard Fields is always a welcome way to spend an afternoon, as well as the ever-popular Sliding Rock.
To take a raft trip check out the offerings at the Nantahala Outdoor Center. Taking a walk at the Biltmore Estate is one of the reasons people flock to this area. Also only a short drive from the cabin is Lake Lure – the perfect little town.If you’re looking for adventure sports in Lake Lure, the Lake Lure NC Adventure Company is great.

Bear Wallow Mountain is a wonderful hike, visible from the cabin windows and sporting incredible views!
Trombatore Trail is at the same location across from the beginning of the Bear Wallow hike, but goes in the opposite direction.
Upper Hickory Nut Gap Trail – On Florence Preserve at 3836 Gerton Highway
Wildcat Rock Trail – Across the road from Upper Hickory Nut Gap Trailhead at 3823 Gerton Highway

The best of the mountains in one place! Chimney Rock Park is a scenic attraction located 25 minutes from where you are staying.with spectacular 75-mile views, numerous hiking trails, a 404-foot waterfall, Nature Center, picnicking and more.

The Hickory Nut Gap Farm, only a few minutes up the road, is the local organic farm; offering apples (take a tour in the fall!), organic meats and so many fun farm animals.

Horseback riding can also be a great adventure, a local, Annie Ager (828-273-6236), offers her services to those interested during certain portions of the year (mostly in the summer and fall) – inquire when making reservations. Although not unique to just Fairview, these self-sustaining ecologically friendly and organic farms are an indispensible resource and rich cultural tool that so many locals rely on year-round for their needs.

Turgua Brewing is 15 minutes from the cabin.

In Fairview near the cabin, visit The Local Joint at 1185 Charlotte Highway in Fairview. On the way to Asheville, the Piazza. You can find whatever you like to eat Downtown! Be sure to check ou the Asheville Brews Cruise.

Goombay Festival was created to celebrate the richness and diversity of the African Diaspora and Asheville’s African American community. Montford Music & Arts Festival – Located on the main street of the Historic Montford neighborhood, the festival has a new look with entertainment stages, artist and vendor booths, and central food court all now on one street, Montford Avenue. While visiting the neighborhood, you will walk the tree lined street, where trolley’s used to travel, marvel at unique architecture, from turn of the century “Victorian” to Arts and Craft designs and observe the diversity mix of its proud neighbors, who yearly volunteer to be your hosts for the festival.
